Student Bursary Fund

The challenge of living in Africa means that many students come to college with limited income to cover their costs. We don't want to turn away students who show great potential, but the reality is that we often do. It is never a quick or easy decision for us. With a robust Bursary Fund, having identified capable students, BISA can offer them world-class tuition together with clean, basic accommodation, and all within the African budget.   Your support will expand our capacity to train men and women for ministry.

BISA General Fund

As far as running costs go, our college runs a tight ship with all frills stripped away. Your donation to the BISA General Fund enables us to pay the rates, keep the lights on, improve our technology and meet the needs of our Staff members so that they can 'Keep the main thing The Main Thing'.

Our desire at BI is to see men and women trained in Gospel Ministry, then to see them thrust into a needy and fallen world as salt and light.  Starting in 1923 we have trained several thousand students who have gone to serve the unevangelised, as well as the Church, in foreign fields, in areas of persecution, schools & hospitals, prisons, night shelters and in every corner of society. Thank you for helping train harvest workers at the Bible Institute.

Borehole Fund

We've had the Western Cape's worst drought in history and water became precious.  The college uses municipal water, and it's not cheap. As we have many live-in students as well as several families with children on campus, we prayerfully made our decision to drill for water, in our case, 80 metres deep. So far we have sunk a borehole pipe and we are pumping water up to ground level for non potable use. Phase Two will be the installation of a water purifier system on campus. Funding this project enables us to reallocate our current monthly water bill towards students' training. Your donation is not just towards a bore-hole; it's towards helping us train men and women in Ministry.

Learning Management System

A Learning Management System is an internet based platform for online education, eliminating paper & postal delays and offering affordable quality education for every student in both residential and distance learning.

A donation towards this major investment will enable BI to hugely increase our enrolment capacity and train even more men and women for Ministry who will be able to make Christ known. The LMS annual subscription is  US$5787.

Augustine Chair of Reformed Theology

The BISA Principal and Board of Directors have established The Augustine Chair of Reformed Theology at the Bible Institute of South Africa. The position will be occupied by Mr Sizwe Maseti who will lecture in Old Testament Studies.  Mr Maseti, who is a BI past student was awarded the degree of Master in Theology cum laude, from Stellenbosch University in 2020.

This endowment with its attendant support will allow Mr Maseti to bring his rich gifts to our BISA students, both in and out of the classroom. The Bible Institute of South Africa will support Mr Maseti and his family for two thirds of his needs. The shortfall will be sought from Churches and individual donors.

Covid-19 Project

Can BISA survive Covid-19?

We asked this question at the beginning of the outbreak and we said "Yes, and this is because the Lord is faithful to His work" And so at BISA we continue to trust in our great provider and to encourage and mentor one another in the Hope we have in Christ.

We have hope but we also face the reality that, as with so many other PBO's in South Africa, our donor support income has diminished.

Will you consider partnering with our student work and assisting our staff who have been put on a reduced salary?  Through this project we are able to continue our Prison Ministry plus our Leadership training programme on the Cape Flats, as resources allow. Thank you for your donation which will help us to keep on training men and women in Gospel ministry.
